Research training course for RSHU students on online integrated meteorology-chemistry modeling with the Enviro-HIRLAM (Environment - High Resolution Limited Area Model) was finished on June 26, 2015 in RSHUThe course was proposed by Dr.Alexander Mahura, the leading expert of the Danish Meteorological Institute and conducted with the help of Dr.Suleiman Mostamandy and PhD student Alexander Kurganskiy from the Meteorological forecasting department of RSHU. During one week 15 RSHU students interactively learned advanced numerical modeling of hydrometeorological processes based on the well-known regional numerical weather prediction model Enviro-HIRLAM. Course was conducted in English. In statistical meteorology, climatology, oceanography, hydrology, use of these models has become a traditional way and showed their high efficiency and prospects for solving a variety of tasks. For example, the knowledge gained will be useful in the processing of hydrometeorological information obtained in real time, to solve the problems associated with the study of extreme atmospheric processes, probabilistic forecasting, analysis of statistical estimates, the solution of environmental problems, etc. All the students successfully presented the final practical task and were awarded with a certificate. The summary with pictures written by Dr.Alexander Mahura can be found here. |
