Pre-University and Russian Language Department

The department is one of the oldest departments of Russian language for international students in St. Petersburg. Starting from 1962 till 1980 it worked as a section of the Russian language for international students at the Department of Foreign Languages. In 1980 the section became a separate department of the Russian language to provide education for international students (undergraduate and postgraduate students). Since then, the scope of activities the department has expanded considerably. In 1991 pre-university training courses for international students were developed. In 1995 instructors of the department began teaching for natonal students on humantarian courses, then in 2001 the department opened a new specialty on Public Relations. In 2008 a separate department of PR and Department of Russian Language and pre-university training were established.
Nowadays, there are 4 main courses provided by the department:
— educational courses for 1 — 4 year international students, masters and PhD students
— russian Language course and pre-university training for internatonal applicants
— humanitarian courses on PR, Modern Russian Language, Stylistics, Literature Edition, History of World Culture and Literature, Ritorics
— humanitarian courses for national students

The department has highly qualified specialists, among which 9 PhD, 8 senior teachers, 1 associate professor. 7 teachers annually are involved in half-position training process at the pre-university training courses for foreign students.
The department staff has a great experience in academic work organizaton for Russian and international students both.
